I'm pretty good at packing lorry for events after years of working as a groom and eventing myself! I know now exactly what I need to take and rarely take a lot of stuff that I don't need! I'm normally quite good at not forgetting things as well..! Depends what I am packing for, but a normal one day event I pack in about 15 mins, but can take hours packing for a 3DE!!!

I show, i Take everything including the kitchen sink, im paranoid that i might leave something behind that i need. Luckily though everything of mine is stored in boxes that have a set place in the boot of the 4x4, and everything goes straight back in those boxes after use, so it only takes about 15 mins to pack the car. saddlery goes on the back seat.

We have duplicates of all the stuff we need (except tack) for comps and leave it in the lorry. That way we dont forget anything and just have to load horses, tack and food.
Lorry is filled with diesel at end of each trip so very quick to go.

It really depends how long we're going away for. If it's just a day trip then we have most of the stuff duplicated on the lorry, so just load tack, horses, hay and fresh water then go.

If we're going away for a long weekend then it requires a military operation. We take the kids with us too, so have to plan for them as well as ourselves and the horses. We pack tables, chairs, bicycles, TV / Video, Bedding, Suitcases PLUS all the stuff for the horses....Wheelbarrow, Brrom, Fork, Buckets, Haynets, Shavings, Feed, Water tack etc... This can take the best part of half a day so I usually bring the lorry home a few days before and pack it in bits in the evenings

i worked as a groom and have packing down to a fine art. nearly always have too much stuff but i'd sooner be prepared. depends on whether i'm going to a day show or overnight or even a few consecutive shows far away.

there weren't really many options for me - ive got a 7.5t non hgv, i travel to lessons/dressage and the occasional bit of showjumping. travel time varies from and 1hr to 7hrs (when i went to the nationals/u25s/winters etc. i have rugs in the lorry already, take a haynet or two depending on whether we are goig for the whole day or whatever, im very well organised so it dosent take long to pack. i also compete/travel every weekend so im pretty quick at knowing what i need. things like my competition clothing/comp boots/comp hat/jacket are all kept in the lorry so all i need to pack is food and tack.

Everything is kept in the wagon so usually just load the horses, but if we are going away for a few days then it takes longer as we pack clothes, food, haylage, feed and lots of beer! If the kids are coming with us it takes even longer! They are more difficult to pack for than anyone else and take more stuff with them! Nightmare..

Everything lived in the lorry (mobile tack room) until she went for an MOT and I'd moved most of the stuff out, just in case. When she got a prohibition order put on her I had to empty her entirely in case I couldn't get her sorted. It wouldn't all fit in my car!

jemima we had the same problem when our lorry when a driver with no license pulled out in front of us and wrote off his car and our lorry (nearly killed his child too but that's another story). We couldn't cram everything in the landrover so ended up taking a friend's lorry to the salvage yard to rescue all our stuff.

Most of the things I need are in the lorry so I just have to load tack, hay, water and horses.
