Anyone ever seen something which you can use on a drop noseband to pad it out?
Mine horse is incredibly sensitive, practically everything he wears needs to be fleece lined! Can't use neoprene boots , has to be fleece lined, can only use Wintec girths on him as these are the only ones which do not rub him and he has a kieffer bridle which is padded everywhere.
I was riding him in just a cavesson (this also needs to have padding everywhere as even when it is loose, it still seems to make him sore) and tried him in a drop noseband (thank you Muckmeister! ) and he goes really well in it. However.... now he has rubs on the side of his mouth and side of his chin (the back of his chin is ok!)
The fit is good, his teeth I know are absolutely fine (EDT out 2 weeks ago and he is done every 6 months without fail). He has a wave complex to his molars and we tried the drop noseband as the EDT suggested that perhaps he did not like anything around his molars (where the cavesson, or flash would normally sit).
It was a good suggestion, as he definately went much better, and was much happier in his mouth and I can now get him working in a much longer outline on a constant contact.......
But.. now he is rubbed, I am having to ride in the cavesson again until I find something to cover the drop at the back and sides.... I have looked everywhere I can think of and cannot find anything ... any one any ideas before I start to try to concoct a homemade version
If anyone has made something themselves, would be interested to hear what worked and what did not.
The fit of the drop is good and it was definately not too tight as I do not like strapping horses mouths shut and I know already that with Mickey it would be counterproductive
