padding under bandages?

is there any other good type of padding i could use under stable bandages?

my horse has to be bandaged on all 4 legs every night, i find i'm constantly buying the white padding (£2 each 'square') and it's getting wrecked from one thing or another. straw gets in them and can't get it all out, wee and poo gets caught up in them too and i can't wash them very easily so i was wondering if there's a better alternative out there?
 
I use hand towels under bandages. Most are just the right lenth for most horses. Fold in half so that the hemmed ends are staggered. They are cheap and can be easily washed.

For extra thicknes you can use two together.

Are your bandages the thick wool type? If so then you don't need padding under them.
 
i've got a variety of bandages that i have to alternate as and when they need washing but your suggestion of hand towels is good, i'll have a look around for some or similar type things.
Natz88 i like the wraps but unfortunately he needs proper bandaging to prevent swelling and lymphangitis rather than for the warmth etc.
 
I found the eskadron pads the best for bandaging, they offer good support to the leg for the swelling and are not too bulky. I do like the thicker pads but they have to be used wth good bandages!
 
I noticed our tack shop had bandages which started off really thick and duvetish before turning into normal bandages (like built on bandage pads)

I have the thick fleecy bandages, do I need to put padding under them?
