Hi, I was wondering if anybody can help me out? How long do you have to keep horses off of pasture if it has been treated with lime?

Also, whilst poo picking I keep noticing little burrow holes under the piles of poo what is causing this, is it a worm? if so what type and which wormer will I need to treat horse with?

thanks in advance, Sally

You need to wait until there has been a good rainfall and then wait a further 14 days for the ime to be absorbed by the ground.

The little holes under the poos are either caused by birds/chicken pecking the ground for worms or the worms migrating from the poos in to the ground.

TIP! Pick poos up on a daily basis and use a programme for worming that eliminates all worms including tape worms and encysted small red round worms.

Hi thanks for the advice.

I do poo pick daily, the holes are right underneath the poo which makes me think it isnt birds any other ideas what might cause them they are about a cm in diameter?

Maybe dung beetles? Which are handy little blighters to have around, so if you worm keep them in after for a day as have heard that wormers are harmful to insects, but could be out of date on that one!

the burrow holes is def a dung beetle

Absolutely, highly unlikely to be worms(although could be earth worms) causing the burrows, any birds would be on top not underneath, it will be dung beetles
