I really rate Managing Grass for Horses: The Responsible Owner's Guide by Elizabeth O'Beirne Ranelagh, very technical and detailed but good to dip into for advice as well.

There is a basic book I got from the bhs. Just a slim paperback but good starting point. Can't recall name sorry but has an obvious title! Try British Horse website for ideas.
