Pagans, gyspies and... WHAT?? Baffled.....

I can see the logic of it being a religious ritual, sort of see why thieves would plait manes (unlikely but possible), and fairies/magic don't really require explanation.

But please, why would the makers of toys go round plaiting manes? Is it practice for when they plait rocking horse manes? Or are they "marking" the manes in order to know which ones to steal to enhance their creations? :eek::eek:

I'd be a bit worried if it was because they were marking them to steal as when you get mane and tail hair for a rocking horse (I've restored two) it's actually on a piece of hide. I'd have hoped they weren't so desperate as to go round skinning horses!
