Ok any advice on this problem

last few weeks when I ride I have a terrible pain in my right thigh it feels like the muscle is going to tear and a pain in my knee like its twisted dis mounting is awkward but once I'm off pain subsides until I start riding again?

Any ideas ?

Is it only when riding? I had something similar, but I was finding the knee was sore walking up and down stairs?
with me it was something called Patellofemoral pain.
Basically my outer thigh was really tight and my inner thigh muscles very weak, and it was pulling the knee cap out of alignment ( not very well explained ) I did some targeted stretching and exercises and it went away after a couple of weeks.
Kx

Is the pain in your thigh at the front, quite high up? I have a tendon that moves over a bit of bone there only when I canter and the pain shoots from that point then appears again in the side of me knee. I good chiro or osteo would be my first port of call.

If it runs from hip to knee, and hurts on the outside of the knee, and is one of the worst pains ever, could be your IT (iliotibia band). Or the start of injury to the IT band. But as people suggested, physio or osteo might be the place to start to find out what it is. I did my IT band in last summer from overuse when cycling, and it progressed so it was so painful to even put my foot to the floor on some days... it took ages to heal ( was told it would be 6-9 months) and was aggravating and etc... best to check out whatever it is before it progresses into something that will be forever healing!
