Pain relief for lurchers first season

My lurcher bitch is 14 months and is in season, and bleeding began today. She is uncomfortable and won’t settle, just not herself. She is eating and drinking well but we can see she’s not herself and wondered what you have given a bitch for relief during their season. She has a heated wheat bag and regular walks .

I could, and have lots still in date. Wasn’t sure if there was anything else we should start with. She’s not ever had any medication so far . Thanks !

Ah bless her heart. My Lurcher would be the same. They dont cope well with pain at all. Keep her warm and extra treats and cuddles.

Metacam shouldn’t really be chucked about Willy Nilly.

Thank you. I’m very cautious to use it hence checking on here, she’s out of sorts more than writhing around in pain, and I just want to help her if I can.

Some females can be slightly under par during season but unless you consider she is seriously unwell I wouldn't give Metacam and even then I would speak to a vet first as it isn't normal for a season. I would just treat her as normal, don't molly coddle her too much (I know lurchers can be very dramatic!) and get on with life as normal.

My male lurcher (29/30 kg) is prescribed 3/4 tablet (three quarters) paracetamol twice a day, just as a guide for you to use on your girl
