Should the vets have given us something to give her for a couple of days after surgery? She has only been home a couple of hours and is already crying

Thanks in advance.

we dont routinely give extra painkillers as it normally makes them feel too good and we need them to keep a bit quiet for the first few days. she should have had a couple of different types of painkillers today which should be enough for her. we see our speys back the next day to make sure they are ok and provide extra pain relief then if they need it. i did 2 last week - a labrador who came in the next day bouncing off the walls and a lurcher who looked like i'd ripped her insides out, tied them in knots and put her back together! dogs deal with pain in different ways and some are def more sensitive than others. it's fairly normal for them to feel a bit out of it and a bit sore that evening though. try and settle her somewhere warm, make sure she's had a pee and something to drink and eat if she wants it and try and let her sleep it off. if she's still seeming very sore tomorrow then take her back for a checkup

I had my spangle spayed yesterday. She was sent home with 5 rimadel <sp> 1/2 tablet morning and night. She was feeling very sorry for herself last night. Bit brighter this morning

my poor lurcher was screaming the place down at the vets so much so they thought they may keep her in!! as said before these skinny breeds of dogs do seem to struggle with pain! she came home with rimadyl and another pain killer which was not licensed for humans-cant remember the name-she was very sorry for herself and just laid in her bed whingeing but was back to normal within 36 hours and i did not use all the painkillers!!

My dog was castrated yesterday he too has been whimpering all day today. He has metacam for his arthritis and tramadol for his OCD, but still seems uncomfortable. Eating and drinking ok. Spoken to the vet today said its normal but i'm still worried.
