Since I have had this pony he always seems to have a painless large lump on his spine after he is ridden - I have tried numerous saddles all different widths and brands different saddles pads no pads - non really make a difference except one dense half pad that I have cut the spine out of it completely and this seems to do just the job no lump pony completely straight - my question is has any one else had an issue like this and can anyone offer any advice - I am not sure really what to do about it to be honest and riding bareback is not really an option ;)
Pic here -

Pony is a 5 yr Connie medium wide wither - we are getting the Native pony lady out to try fit him with one of their saddles to see if that makes a difference.

TIA :)

Also in Competing and Training :)

Yes! My horse gets this sometimes as well! I've tried different saddles and numnahs bt it still happens, back lady doesn't know what it is and neither does saddler. It doesn't bother him though and when pressed/massaged it goes down or goes down on its own after about 20 mins, its like its a fluid lump or something but its reasonably solid. I found my mark todd grip saddlepad is the best for it not coming up but I can't find a reason for it as of yet

To be honest I'm not entirely sure! Probably something irish x cob, he's not chunky as such but not fine either! He's very short and flat backed though, is yours?
