I'm doing a xc competition on the 30th, and I am going to do either pairs or just own my own. I'm leaning towards diving straight in, altho I know she'll be more confident with another horse (maybe too much so...) So what would you do?

I have a feeling once she got the idea that pairs is more fun than going at it alone, she might be less relectant by myself. But then I'd just keep going alone, building up her confidence until she was fine and dandy by herself, then I'd do pairs, and she would find it just as okay as lone xc, so wouldn't be reluctant next time we were going alone.
There was a post about hacking youngsters and whether you should go alone first our in company - I started in company with her, and now she is less confident hacking by herself, although it's perfectly possible, but she just likes to stop and look at everything.

So, would you go for it or do pairs first? Opinions appreciated

I say get her fit enough, then go to an event and do the pairs class first if possible then go around the same class on your own, in the singles class. Worked for me on quite a few ponios, as you can always go in front or behind with a buddy and its so much more fun!
Then do the same height (or bigger LOL ) and you will have the adrenaline rush and the confidence to just have a blast. Your in the right area as the PC do mini xc by you I think?
