Hi,

I'm thinking for getting an old pajero. I would need to tow a old rice trailer and 2 ponies (about 1 tonne). Can the Short Wheel Base versions cope with this weight or would I have to look at the LWB?

Anyone any experiences of the older Pajeros and their running costs??

Thanks

Running costs - not great I'm afraid

But there smashing 4x4's, great for towing and never miss a beat, I'd have another in a flash but used mine for everday going to work and did a lot of miles therefore it was very thirsty, but if your buying one just for towing, go for it there grand.

There is a plate on the inside of the bonnet and you deduct one figure from the other to get the max towing weight. The LWB tows up to 3 tons and I would suspect this is similar for a SWB

I have a 2.8TB LWB and I tow a Ifor williams 510 with a very big 16.1hh mare.

Think we get 20 - 25mpg. Ours is an N reg and its a great work horse.

Forgot to say..it pulls my hubby's sanky trailer with all his and other peoples diving tanks and equip.

I agree with Kenzo. I had a LWB with the 2.8 TD engine. They are a fantastic workhorse, they'll pull anything but they are thirsty. When towing if you get 20 mpg you are doing well. If possible go for the 2.8 as it has a cam chain rather than a belt & it doesn't need the regular replacement of the belt that the 2.5 does & it's expensive to replace.

fabby for towing and lovely extras etc but as other said a little fuel thirsty. Also as they are imported they used to be rather expensive to insure so I would check that first!

I used mine everyday as a normal car because of the cost of insurance and fuel I found it cost me just the same to have a lorry and run a small car

Also they do tend to be a bit more than the shoguns but they are worth paying that bit more, because there imports they tend to be in much better condition, mine was fresh import bu it was only an L reg but it was like brand new underneith because they have not had the weather that rots them like we do over here and yes you do get some extras.

They guy who bought mine still has it, he loves it and I practically burst in to tears eveytime i see it
