'Palatable' antibiotics - anyone found their dog liked them?

We got given these tablets yesterday. They're not acceptable hidden in cheese, or anything else (she refuses to eat whatever they're hidden in - can smell them!!). So I've popped them down her throat in the time honoured way of doing such things. So what's the point in 'palatable' ones (presumably costing more?) if they smell so dodgy your dog won't go near them?!!!

So my question - is my dog just odd, do other people have dogs that happily eat these?

Strange that she won't accept them in cheese, out of 4 fussy dogs that can smell a tablet a mile away I have always used cheese, I mould it into a small ball about the size of a hazelnut then shove the tablet inside and it goes down in one. IF I get any that are suspicious I feed them a "dummy decoy" piece of cheese first so when the second "tablet loaded" piece comes their way it goes straight down, helps if the other dogs are sitting nearby it makes the one you want to take the tablet gulp it straight down thinking the others might nick it otherwise.
Your own smell from your hands on the cheese as you mould it also helps mask the smell of the tablet.Perhaps your dog has x ray vision!
Oz :)

I have the same problem. If it says palatable on it I know it will just not be taken. The new palatable flea tablets were a laugh, the size of small saucers and clearly not palatable. they had to be broken into quarters to be shoved down the throat, Nothing else worked. same with the palatable wormers, and the palatable pain killers and the palatable anitbiotics. Far far easier and cheaper to get the tiny non palatable tablets and shove them down the throat!
