Mim is now a four year old, and still just an absolute joy in every way.

Just before COVID-19, we started doing some hacking out, bareback and with my lovely husband walking with us. Since then, she’s been in the field, and has done some walking in-hand but not much else.

This time, last year, at 3 years old:

This year, at four. She’s definitely leaner, and seems much taller actually even though she’s only grown just over an inch. I don’t have a good conformation shot as I need husband to hold her- she’s too interested in eating the phone so this is the closest (colour adjusted as the original had so much shadow, it was hard to see her condition).

She’s the most gorgeous colour this year, with a real shine on her - almost Akhal Teke-y.

She has perfected her uncanny Startled Llama impersonation:

And still has the loveliest face.

Although not when she’s objecting to sunblock.

And she’s just as enthusiastic about life and prefers to trot everywhere instead of walk.

So we need to think about buying her a new saddle, as I’ve been using and old polo saddle to get her used to the idea but I wouldn’t sit in it.

And then I need to lose a few pounds, and hop on again!

I hope our next update is a ridden one.

She has grown into herself now and is as lovely as ever, the change in her colour is interesting she is much more golden this year, I think palomino does tend to change more than some colours but that is a real difference.

She's very pretty. What height is she now..??
Arabs always look so incredibly dainty don't they :)

She’s 15hh, and yes, very dainty from side on but an absolute barrel from the front ? which is all rib cage as she’s not overweight this year.

Here’s one of the less flattering shots ???

I'm normally a plain brown tack/brown numnah sort of person but I do love Arabs dressed up in fancy Bedouin bridles

The track seems to be working well

Yes, I’m really pleased with her weight at the moment.

I know she’s very under-muscled but the last few months have been absolutely crazy at work and I just haven’t done enough with her. It’s starting to let up a bit so I’m hoping to do more with her now.

I’m thinking of getting her a barefoot saddle and anatomical dressage girth to start with, and then when her shape has settled I would hope to get an Arabian saddle company one made specifically.
I use a Barefoot on mine Lady G . Iv'e got the Cherokee classic. You are going to have to put size 1 on Mim. Size 2 will be too long and yes I know they say it doesn't matter and you must go with your dress size but there is a limit to this and Mims back is too short in my opinion for size 2. They are quite big saddles. I agree with DD that she will be tricky to fit and if she is like mine will constantly change shape which is a pita ! hence why I use a treeless and a grandeur pad so I can shim. You may need a curved dressage girth (may) if you opt for treeless.
Mim is looking lovely LG. She really has the most beautiful face and the kindest eye. xx

I’m thinking of the barefoot Nevada which I think is one size, the physio pad to match it, the matching breastplate and then one of those curved girths.

Failing that, duct tape.

I have the Nevada... I think I have a photo of the gelding wearing it as a youngster.

*goes to look*
