Panarama - tonight, on dog fighting

As result of all this dog fighting we're legally obliged to destroy any dog that "may" have been used in dog fights or as a bait dog that is seized or turned over to the shelter

there's usually 4 to 5 a fortnight sitting in the vet kennels out of the public eye to be destroyed.

I couldnt watch it all. It really does make my blood boil - programmes like that I feel only inflame a bad situtation, perhaps to form an unbiased opinion, the programme should have been followed by a short film of all the lovely pitbulls, playing with kids, having fun with other dogs etc.
I know I didnt watch all of it but what I did see ws the BBC again scaremongering...

Isnt some of the problem because the pitbull isnt a recognised uk breed, therefore it boils down to anything of bull shape and stature? Might find a pic of my staffy x and see if people think he was a pitbull!!

I think its bloody terrible that in todays day and age we still judge a book by its cover - I have met greyhounds who live happil with cats, rottweilers afraid of their shadow and mongrels who would fight til the cows come home... Just because an animal has a propensity to a particular trait is not the be all and end all..after all we have trained our wolves out of fear for humans down the generations - so there is no reason why good training cannot make bull breeds model citizens..

I agree. If you or I had an APBT from a pup it would probably me a smashing dog but because of their reputations they always get into the wrong hands...shame for the breed and the dogs!

I also own a Malamute he is the kindest soffest person ever. Loves people. If you bothered to research the breed you would see that a Malamute isn't a "one person dog" at all. Please do not generalise about breeds that you know nothing about!

Like everyone else has said bad people, make bad dogs!
