This afternoon Hattie and I have our 2nd ever ODE. This time 2ft 6.
I know the course as we did a hunter trial there but they have added a new combo fence.
It is up to height. There is part A, a upright rail, then a stride to a steep drop down slope, then another stride to part B, another upright rail.

Pic is a bit blurry, taken on phone. Dad is stood behind part B.
My plan is to line Hattie up with the right side of the big trees in the background and canter part A, sit tight for the drop slope, then kick for part B. Having the whip in my left hand on her shoulder. I won't be able to showjump her in as she has 1 type of canter which is big and fast and she won't make the height in trot.
Does this sound right?

Aim to get the first part right then just keep her straight and not too fast and it should be all just flow smoothly. Don't get forward down the drop
(if this is stating the obvious just ignore me)
and have no power to convince her that you are serious about B. The line looks good. GOOD LUCK!

Don't sucum to the temptation to come in fast end up flat and on the forehand just clear A fall down the slope and stack it over B (horses idea not mine at a similar fence...argh! But you can survive that approach as we managed to finish clear) =)-

I think it was Ginny Elliot who said 'keep kicking till you land'...

Thanks Felicity_09. We made it, in a fashion. We jumped part A fine but she pecked on the landing of the drop slope and I lost my reins but kicked and she picked up, over part B. I was hailing a cab as we went over.
