Panorama-It shouldnt happen at a Vets...

oh dear, I don't think I can! They are the one place you have to rely on when your most loved friend has to have help. If bad things and mistakes happen there than I don't want to know! (head sand!)

Im dreading this program tbh, after going through a terrible incident with a Vets practise in which i ended up losing one of my dogs in a horrific & traumatising way i know this is going to upset me greatly.

It does need to be shown though we all expect quality care.

I'm going to watch it but I don't think it will make enjoyable viewing... maybe I've naive but it never occurred to me that this kind of thing could happen at a vets practice. :(

No, am not watching, because my vet is not a big corporate one like the ones featured and i trust him implicitly. I think it is awful, judging the content from the trailer the Beeb has been showing. But i hate any cruelty to animals so i will not watch. I would be sick.

One of my friends is a vet nurse at the RVC so we will be watching. I have to admit to getting a bit upset at a trailer they showed on BBC news this morning but I think its important.

I already know that I can't watch it.
I understand that sometimes professionals have to get a job done in a way less gentle than the loving owner would perhaps use but this sounds far, far beyond that. Very sad.

there is an article about this in the daily mail online this morning. It doesnt make very comfortable reading....

I didn't even watch all the trailer, poor dog they didn't seem to have a clue. But echoing what else has been said it does seem to be a money making business that is nothing like my local independant vets where they are fully trained

I want to watch it but from the ads and from reading the link, I think it will upset me too much, don't really like going to bed with upsetting things in my head, it will play on my mind for weeks, it's making me feel weak just thinking about it, nothing upsets me more than seeing poor helpless distressed amimals :(

it looks awful but yes i will watch it.....

i trust my vets, my dog is treated like my child :o ..... so yeah id like to see what goes on behind the scenes....

i know all vets are not good.....but this will show the worst right?

The radio has been broadcasting news today that vets are doing tests they don't need to do to get more money... is that to do with this program I wonder?

Possibly.

Just listening to one persons story of charges she was sent - ridiculous. The bill came to over £7k and some of the stuff she was charged for is mind boggling (cleaning out of cat litter, hand feeding....???) And she paid it.

I wouldn't have. Don't people ever query and dispute things I wonder??

It's one of those where I want to watch but don't know if I can. I implicititely trust my local small animal vet and equine practice but they're both independent if this makes any difference.

Who are the 'trainees'?? trainee vet nurses???

i just watched the trailer then - poor poor dog!!!! it was very distressed and obviously a vet should have interviened or done the flipping thing

glad im sticking with my vets - i trust them.

I deep reading you all saying small independent vets!! Are there any large national vets?? I don't know of any? Not that I'd call national all seem to be independent even if they have 3 surgeries they are still owned by just a couple or say 3 vets not major conglomerates. Sorry if it's off topic a bit but I will be watching.

^^^ Medivet are a large National vets, which is where Panorama have infiltrated.

I will definatly be watching as a vet nurse, it will be interesting to see how much of a bunch of monsters they make us out to be :p, allthough bad practace needs to be confrunted, i hope they dont make too many sweeping statements and put us all in the same boat, is it a big corperate vets that they have been following ?

I'm not sure that is the aim of the programme at all. Just highlighting the fact that our animals may not be handled in the professional and compassionate manner we would expect - by fully trained staff........

I use two practices - equine and small animals. Both are just wonderful.
