paper bedding?

My friend uses it for her itchy horse and likes it. I think its a lot to do with personal preferance. Personally it would drive me mad to see paper flying about all over the yard!!

I don't, but a lot of the horses at college are bedded on cardboard which is quite similar to paper... it is really easy to muck out and is best used with rubber matting otherwise you would have to use about 20 bags to make it deep enough! I much prefer shavings or straw but paper/cardboard is a healthier option for a horse with a breathing condition such as RAO.

It is vile, wet heavy to muck out, makes a mess everywhere, try bio bed or something made of flax, it is fantastic, really absorbant and very cost effective.

Oh dear! I really like paper bedding.

We have rubber matting in the stables and the floors have been laid so they drain really well. I use a decent amount of paper (about 1.5 to 2 bales for a new bed in a 14x14 stable) so they have good banks and about six inches of paper on top of the rubber, with half of the floor covered.

We skip out three times a day and muck out completely in the morning.

I was using Bedmax but we had one wet load and then the next was so dusty, so I got fed up and changed back to paper.

We pick out feet and sweep back in front of the door before bringing the horses out, so the yard stays really clean.

I love them to have really clean beds. (I would happily lie in them!) The paper beds seem to be staying very clean and fluffy.

I would definately recommend it, so long as your horses arn't too messy!

I use paper but it's not newspaper, it's all the confidential waste from work (of which we have shedload). We have shredders that cut it into matchstick size pieces. It's great, it's clean, white, it's like mucking out shavings and . . the best part, it's FREE

My yard uses paper and i really like it. I find it easy and quick to muck out and light to move around, even when wet and it's never left marks on any of our horses (even the greys!).
