Does anyone have any experience of using a Parallax Hay saver? Would you recommend ? Or does anyone have tips of not wasting hay in the field (I have no fences to tie nets, just some low trees) - I think it's going to be a long winter! :(
Thanks

One of my best investments was a ring feeder and large bale net ... I got the ring feeder second hand from a farm. Bit tricky to transport but couldn't live without it now. No waste at all bc of the net inside.

As a second thought, could you postcrete in a few posts to tie up haynets? Might be the cheapest, easiest solution although will of course get muddy around the posts unless you have mudcontrol slabs or something like that

I have an ex racer self harmer - I've always been wary of ring feeders, worried I'd find him tangled in it one morning. There's a Durapoly one that looks good, but it's well over my budget.

I have a Hay Hutch. I really like it but they do still pull out big chunks of hay and waste it. Not as much as just feeding on the ground though. Thinking of getting the net for the inside of it to see if that helps.

I have just made a hardstanding surface with mud control mats, big enough for my very sturdy hay box and horses eating from it. The hay is in small hole nets tied down inside the hay box. No waste at all.

The sanctuary I work at uses them, I think we have 8 or 9 and they do work well. Small issue of two of the boys in particular putting their legs in them when empty to scratch an itch and one other fellow tipping it upside down occasionally but they're fairly robust.

That's good news as Destructacob sat on the Haybar and demolished it (several times)
