Go to parelliconnect.com and sign up for a free 30 day trial. You get the level one online videos free with the online membership and you can quit if you don't get on with it. After that it's about £8 a month and they send you more videos every month and you get access to every video they have ever posted online. When you have got the hang of the level one stuff I would try to find someone who has the level two kit and borrow it off them or buy it secondhand (although be careful if you buy off ebay as often the parelli members' prices are cheaper than the ebay prices for the non-parelli-branded stuff!)
When you join even on the free trial you qualify for member prices which means you can get the kit cheaper. Now they are doing the basic kit of stick, string, halter and 12' rope for £35 for members which is pretty good considering when I started I paid £50 off ebay for a pink stick which fell apart and a halter which came untied! (To be fair it did have a very tough first winter in a very boggy school). Good luck and have fun!

Google Parelli Catwalk, google Parelli Barney and read all about what happened to them (the Barney video was removed from youtube so is unfortunately no longer available for public viewing). Read about the 'In a Whisper' event. Investigate the reality before jumping in with both feet first.

If you still are interested after thorough investigation, well I have nothing less to say.

I don't think this is fair really. If someone asked how to get started learning about dressage people wouldn't dive in being sarcastic and linking to abusive Anky threads and photos would they?
Whatever we might think about a training approach or equestrian discipline, surely we should allow people to discuss their interests without ridicule and undermining their threads?
Fine on a "what do you think about...?" thread, but out of order like this I think.

I think people should be offered the information, my only intention was to educate the original poster to the more hidden and less marketed side of Parelli, she can make her own choice if she wishes to progress down that route or not. Perhaps I am in the minority by wanting to know about the reality of every system not just the polished stories that they sell. I certainly wasn't attempting to be sarcastic just realistic.

p.s If someone was wanting to start practising rollkur I sincerely think people would link to Anky threads, pictures and videos.

Ditto this.

There are good bits of Parelli, but they seem lost in the mists. I've been to two day 'show' and I've researched it, and others, and I've formed my own opinion, which I'll gladly share with anyone who wants to know it. They might not like it though, doesn't make me wrong or right - it's my opinion based on my research.

Team BArney - I think TinyPony was referring to all the others saying about the pinks sticks etc rather than your post which was certainly far more informative to the op than most.

OP - agree, learn all you can first and see if you still want to go ahead. Your choice but do some thorough research before you fork out hundreds of pounds. Good luck!

what a bunch of sanctimonious nut cases. You can tell what sort of people they are by the way they are all looking forward to some cyber bullying.

Not quite. Just surprised that Parelli posts are still popping up on mainstream horse forums.
The sort of person I am, is one who has seen many honest horses messed up by this system. Who has watched parelli in jaw dropping shock and had to leave because of his disturbing way of treating horses.

this - and im so not bullying - but who in their right minds would pay fifty quid for a pink stick - that breaks after one use

Is this refering to all the jokes about settling down with popcorn, etc?

I didn't read that as looking forward to "cyber bullying" at all. I just thought they were thinking it's a contentious subject and they were expecting an entertaining debate/arguement!

The OP doubtless knows nothing about previous 'debates' regarding Parelli on this forum, therefore the comments on 'getting the popcorn out' were a little presumptious. Sure, I've used the popcorn smilies before, but only in the middle of a bitchfest, not in anticipation of bother....

Like I have done, mentioning you are 'not a fan' is enough I believe, and being diplomatic can do wonders, when the OP is clearly thinking this forum actually offers sound advice....
