Parelli is useless? Can you do this?

Hmmm nope, I've re-read our conversation and it's definitely not me who is closed-minded. I don't care who you are or what you've studied, or what you do with your own horses, that's irrelevant here.

The video shows a girl and her horse having 'fun' together, and if that's what she wants to do with her horse, who are you to criticise it, or say she should have a dog instead?

Live and let live ......

As with most Parelli trained horses, I didn't think they looked like they were having 'fun'. I thought the look on the grey ponies face said it all!

no it's not irrelevant given the OPs confrontational posting. My response still stands as why would I want her to. The OP insinuates that Parrelli is not useless and if people can't get their horses to "do this" then they aren't doing things right. So they and you (if you are indeed two different people) shouldn't really be surprised at the responses!

Em, wait a minute here. I'm sorry, but 'who JunoXV is and what they've studied, or what they do with their own horses' (this quoted from my previous post) IS irrelevant to this discussion!

I watched the video and I liked it - all I see a girl having fun with her horses, no big deal. Am I not entitled to hold that opinion, or voice it without being shot down in flames? And just because I like the video doesn't mean to say that I agree with the OPs sentiments or intents, and it certainly doesn't mean that I AM the OP!!

Sheesh, some people!

F would end up in someone elses transport if I let him.......... he gets lorry envy ;)

LMAO!! We lost a friends pony once at a show (we only went to get a burger) even though someone was minding them (!) thought he was running loose somewhere then as we were heading towards the rings, a lady led him off the (enormous) lorry in front with a mouthful of hay looking a bit peeved that he'd been evicted

Your interpretation of my original post says a lot more about you than about what I actually said. And your second sentence indicates to me a degree of paranoia (not that I'm qualified :))

That's hilarious!

Perhaps then you'd like to explain your original post because to me - it looks retty confrontational. I'm not sure what you mean about being paranoid. Not sure what I'd be paranoid about??

You can hold your own opinion but you seem to think people were reacting badly to the OP (I'll accept you may be different people but still find it funny how there are a rash of "new" posters on this topic at the moment). You can't blame folk for trying to answer the OP or the insinuation of her/his posting.

qr: firstly, what is the point of that? it's not a useful skill, to be able to load your pony backwards, or at a canter, into a trailer!
secondly, you don't need parelli to load horses calmly - my friend has a massive 17hh boy who she travels in a trailer with mine. I take mine in first and fatty goes in second. she walks him up to the ramp, pops the leadrope over his neck and he carries on in by himself to the front, at which point I clip him to the bungee.

No bizarre ropes waved around, no carrot sticks necessary, all very calm.

What I have studied is very relevant when discussing a particular training method. It sets the base understanding of where my response is comming from, ie am i talking from emotional guesswork or from experience.

To be allowed an opinion perhaps you should first extend the posters who do agree with you the same courtesy? "Do as you would be done by" ;)

OK let's recap here. My first post in this thread was

No. using the trailer to transport your horse to another place and then ride it when you get there is fun. If you want to play those sort of games then you might as well get a dog.

I think it's very clear where your response is 'comming' from, and it has nothing to do with what areas of horsemanship you have studied. It does however say a lot about the kind of person you are.

Now, I'm bowing out of this ridiculous discussion, and I'm off to play with my horse :)
