Parelli ISN'T a real issue!!

I totally agree - wonder if it's worth asking JanetGeorge to reqest a name change for it ? Or even start a new thread with a name that'll hit the spot. I guess at the end of the day, if a new thread is started, it will simply get more signatures for the petition which is the wanted outcome

I used the 'P' title to BE slightly controversial on the topic to GET plenty of views - and so far it's worked. And I'd be MORE than delighted if someone starts a new thread with a different title to catch those who have totally turned off ANYTHING related to Prat Parelli! As long as we keep the signatures coming in!!

someone did start a new thread here, titled abuse or something, of course it is not getting the desired hits.

and no, not all of america is abusers. like bm said, there are many lovely horse owners here on both sides (im in california) of the country and everywhere in between. we are just the one with the crummy rodeo practices. the problem has less to do with horse owners, than it does the lack of compassion by the rest of the country about horses. like i said, if it was a dog in that video, holy moly, this thread would not exist. we are a dog country, you here are a horse country. so many people think that only rich people have horses, so if they are rich, then they take care of them. NOT.

anyways, we are up to over 1200.....wooo hooooooooooo!

thank you for all your help, everyone!

Emailed the white house. Bet I dont get a reply....

Any yankies reading it, dont take offence!

"Dear Sir,

I would like to raise with you my grave concerns for something that appears to be legal in the USA. Wild Horse Racing.

This cruel and quite frankly barbaric issue MUST be made illegal. How a country that claims to be civilised can allow this practice is beyond me. There is a campaign within the UK that is gathering speed, against the USA.
If you can stomach it, watch the following link.

I look forward to your response although I feel it can in no way justify why you allow this murderous practice to take place.

Regards"

Only on page 13 and people are still ranting about Parelli on the other thread.
Ranting? That's a matter of opinion!

I think it says alot about the some of the people on this forum.
I think it says a lot about the two subjects. This issue is a lot more clear-cut - so there is almost no debate - so the thread is shorter.

(Yes, I did sign - last week.)

Well, I think that video puts a lot of things in perspective. Yes cruelty is cruelty, but effort does need to be focused on the most serious issues, such as wild horse racing and live transportation. Once again, I'm staggered by the sheer evilness exhibited by humans towards animals around the world and I'm so grateful to have been born in a country that has some of the strictest animal welfare laws going.

I am a yank, and I take no offense. The fact is, IF we as a country, after being informed of this, take no action, then we are infact barbaric.

If you turn a blind eye, you are just as guilty as the one pulling the trigger IMO.

Just so y'all know, I do not dismiss your opinions on the 'pat and cat" show. if you really truley feel it needs to be investigated, by all means go for it.

All I ask, is that you put just as much effort into spreading world wide awareness to this tragic event, and help these horses have a voice.

The sum of our country is not abusive, but outdated horrific things still go on, and mostly are deemed acceptable acts to animals, because they are viewed as dumb by people who know nothing about horses, cows and the like.

We gave the horse up, when we invented cars and tractors, you did not.

thus many here are completely clueless about them. I believe, if they know, really know, they will help.

thank you for going the extra step and sending a note to the white house.

thanks to everyone

bump, signed and added to my facebook

As for the video, I couldnt watch it all that is the most horrific thing I have ever seen I cant believe people actualy think thats entertainment, I think they all want tying to the horse and see how they like it, I cant write on here what I would call them!

Unable to watch, due to my sensitive nature - God made lots of different people - and I have signed in the belief that you guys would only object so strongly to something if necessary.

I agree with you, which is why I signed the petition several days ago and why i have posted on the infamous P thread. I believe the latter to show horse abuse.
I will not defend myself for doing so as I dont care to what degree abuse is committed. Abuse is abuse end of.

I am a parelli fan but understand how it doesn't appeal to everyone, all I know is that it's worked for me and my horse. If anyone is interested in the positive side of Parelli training, check out "Hannah and Sarah amazing trailer loading" on You Tube and then come back and say what Parelli teaches is cruel!!!! I do not condone the hobbling and twitching of any horse but I dare any horse owner to tell me they haven't seen or heard of worse often administered by a VET!!

I cannot applaud the previous posting more, there is far more cruelty in the world directed at horses in all sorts of spheres, especially where the horse is treated as a commodity rather than a living breathing creature i.e horse racing. Guys lets get this in to perspective, even Catwalk's owner John Whitaker openly admitted that bridling this horse was done but "not in a nice way". We've all heard stories of cruelty in the racing/ showjumping world haven't we? Please lets direct our energy somewhere where its needed. Lets focus all this energy somewhere useful......

Have watched the video - didn't want to and did it with tears in my eyes, I don't think I have ever seen anything so awful.

Have signed the petition and emailed the white house - requesting a response to my mail!

As somebody else mentioned
'Cruelty is cruelty. So I signed BOTH petitions, relevant to each horrible practice'

It always baffles me as to how much of this goes on :/ there is so much more we are totally unaware of aswell.

Makes me feel physically sick
