i would like to have a go at some join up technques with my pony. i cant afford to go buy an expensive dvd or book on it so can anyone suggest something to try or a website where i can learn some games/techniques to try???
Parelli doesn't use Join Up, but Monty Roberts does. You could have a look at the Intelligent Horsemanship website and ask about Join Up, although they get a bit snotty about who you should learn it from.
You could look for Parelli and Monty stuff on EBay. Kelly Marks writes books that have games/groundwork exercises in as well.

I don't think its a question of being intentionally snotty but if you get the signals wrong you could do more harm than good so they just want you to get proper advice
Try "From my Hands to Yours" by Monty
Also Richard Maxwell has some good DVD's
The Kelly Marks recommended associates know how to do Join Up, but they aren't allowed to teach it unless they have had extra Monty training. That's always seemed a bit snotty to me.
I'm not a great fan of Join Up personally, if you get on pretty well with your horse I'd say it ain't broke so don't bother trying to fix it (it doesn't need it). Working and moving a horse about at liberty is entirely different and anyone can play around with that. Just let your horse loose and experiment quietly with how you can influence their body with yours.
If you are just looking for ideas but they don't have to be Parelli you could look on EBay and see if there are any Silversand basic DVD's or videos up for auction. Because they aren't as famous as Parelli they go quite cheap, but don't be concerned by that. It's a natural horsemanship approach to training but some would say much more practical and less confrontational than Parelli. And for a few quid worth a look anyway.
Also, Quantum Savvy have got loads of their stuff on You Tube. It's quite Parelli-ish, but it might give you some ideas.
