A friend and I went last year we were given some complementary tickets.

I arrived with an open mind and left with a bored one.

Unfortunately I have not been able to try out any of the Parelli techniques as my horse is already good to catch, handle, load, and ride. This is probably just luck and nothing to do with correct basic training.

That said, his half pass has come on in leaps and bounds now that I know he's a left brain introvert.

That's ok. I can get them out again with my carrot stick.

as if.........................

A group of us went last year. We had a good time, apart from spending hours queuing for something to eat and drink only to find they had run out of everything!!!!
I hear this year they are refusing to let anyone in with any food or drink as you have to buy it on the premises ( good luck )
The whole show was very showmanlike but everyone got into the spirit ( well those of us that were actually watching rather than standing in the equally long queue to buy he latest series of dvds etc.) We met up with some rather serious "parelli people" in the b&b whos "leader" spent the whole evening telling us how to handle our horses ( hysterical as among our group were an equine physio, a police horse trainer, a vet an equine dentist and a couple of instructors.)Although she didn't know because she never asked and we didn't tell!

Overall an entertaining weekend, we amused ourselves on the journey back by working out which of our horses were right or left brained ( and which of us were too!)

Has everyone got bored of Parelli bashing? I'm suprised that there were only 18 posts in here....maybe admin should sticky a particularly amusing Parelli thread just to warn people.

Sorry, I can't make it as am doing my nails.

But when someone shows me a horse who has been Parelli'd who is soft, comfortable and happy then I might look again. Haven't seen one yet, just unhappy horses doing things because they are scared of the consequences of not doing them.

Maybe my view is slightly tainted by the fact that I know a couple of people locally who follow Parelli and both are control freaks. One woman thinks nothing of punching her horse in the face, and I mean punch, if her horse even puts his muzzle on her.

That's not horsemanship, that's animal cruelty and I would a. punch her and b. report her if I ever see her personally do this.

EEEEEE i cant waiiiit

It amazes me how people can have such differing opinions, what you see when you watch parelli is what I see when I watch horse's showjumping and to a lesser extent doing dressage. There's nothing like whip marks and spur scars to tell you the horse really doesn't like it's job but does it through fear.

My friend used to do parelli and her Arab was lovely to ride, very responsive and always trying to please. She was never punched or whipped, sounds like the parelli person you know isn't very nice and it wouldn't matter if she was into Parelli, showjumping or eventing she'd still be a foul person to her horses.

To the OP hope you have fun at the Parelli demo, the tickets where very expensive but I'm sure it'll be worth it
