She is probably playing the driving game and using an ineffective phase four. Driving game is where you move the horse with out touching him. Phase one is the you better move look. Phase 2 is to start wiggling your stick. Pase three is to cuase the string to move. and phase four you smack on the chest. When you beggin you give about 3-4 seconds per phase and then at an instant try you release. What she is doing sounds like she is trying to back up but tapping it on the head. I have only tried that with a horse who thoroly understood the game of driving and used rope wiggling as a phase four instead of tapping hard.
