For those of you that do any parelli training with your horses..... I'm looking at getting into it but will be starting from scratch.

I'm looking at put buying the rope halter carrot stick, 12ft line and 22ft line. The bit I'm struggling with as where to start with the instructional DVDs. What does level 1 and level 2 cover? Does anyone have these DVDs and could give me an outline of what is covered. Also is there any other DVDs or starter knowledge that I need?

Hhhhmmm....... Not to positive a response! Second thoughts maybe. Lol

You either love it or hate it, most people on here hate it so it will seem bias but then the same goes if you post on a parelli website you will get bias views on it being the best thing since sliced bread .

^^This, there are also tons of horses on project horse and the like that have been 'parelli trained' and are now needing starting from scratch after first trampling their owners in total frustration and confusion then being forced to evolve at a rapid rate and turn carnivorous and then eat their owners, or they end up at Tescos!!!:D
Put it this way I won't even sell a horse to someone who practices parelli even if they waved a blank cheque at me!!!

But that's the fun in it apparantly :D Cannot beat runing a horse and making it hard to sell if it only listens to Parelli methods. Cannot think of anything better than being trampled to death by my horse on a sunday ;)

Check out 'Intelligent Horsemanship' instead, straight forward sound advice. Looking forwards to working with my instructor this summer.

Ditto this. My horse HATED the Parelli stuff with a passion. Depends why you want to do it but I had a Level 2 student come here who I asked to desensitise a nervy cob to the use of a rope and she hadn't got a clue. Look into IH, or Mark Rashid unless you are prepared to be very TOUGH with your horse.

All the natural horsemanship stuff uses the same principles, pressure and release and spot on timing is the key a few carrots would'nt go a miss either. Take a look at Robert Maxwell, he has some excellent books and DVD's Mazimise Your Horsemanship is one. Have fun

You can get level one for free by joining Parelli Connect on a 30 day trial membership and only committing if you get on with it. Most instructors will give you a trial lesson and lend you the kit without you being a member but obviously you have to pay for the lesson, contact details for instructors are on the Parelli website.

And to Nancykitt - I sold pretty much all my parelli dvds on ebay and I am still into it as I am pretty sure that the conclusion that you are suggesting (could be wrong of course) is that people bought them and decided it was no good. Personally speaking, I bought them, watched them then sold them on as they are blummin' expensive.

I love this ^^^ and totally agree!! :D

Jennie1000, don't waste your time on here, join Parelli Connect for starters, it's free.
If your on face book Parelli folk have organized themselves into self help groups such as the Lancashire Savvy Sisters, Yorkshire Savvy Sisters, Staffordshire Savvy Seekers, there are lots around the country now each with a few hundred members, plenty of help and understanding in these groups. Enjoy the journey, lol.
