I did most of the jobs in winter. She will never show up in the morning, i.e getting ready for school and it was just easier for me to pop quickly in the morning and sort the pony early. But, by Friday night and weekends it was mostly her duties. However, I will still do the jobs if she was going riding, which for me was more important for the pony. I had to go with her regardless due to her age, and we could finish everything quickly as a team! :)

It is a difficult one, and I reckon it depends on how old they are too.

Pony away for a rest, and will stay away for the winter. Will bring back for spring time.

I don't commute so no pressure for me to be anywhere by a specific time so in winter I will feed, turn out, skip and do waters in the morning for all of ours as it is easier time wise than doing two journeys or rushing before school. Although we have lights at the yard it is remote and isolated so she could not walk or cycle there alone in the dark.

After school she will bring in, groom, tack up and ride whilst I finish off any stable jobs. This arrangement suits us as it means she gets to ride and still get home to do homework whilst tea is cooking, so we all sit down for a meal together. She will do tack cleaning, scrubbing field troughs and poo-picking in addition to stables at weekends. Maybe she does have it easier than when I was a teenager with one pony (and non-horsey parents) and cycled to the yard before and after school, but then I didn't have much time left for my homework.
