Apparently all of the disciplines are going to be held there - excited for the eventing as it will be a chance to run around the grounds!

As far as I’m aware, they have said that the delay from 2020 to 2021 is not going to have an impact on 2024.

However, not sure whether they have updated this advice recently....

I think it's going to be very hard to get hold of tickets! Especially if Tokyo doesn’t go ahead (which I have got tickets for so ???)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed very firmly!

If you could scrape together the financing, you could buy a studio flat in the town, within walking distance of the Château. From €300,000 should do it. Put in some basic furnishings, then after the Olympics sell it on.

Two examples:

Or find somewhere further out, and get the train. From the gates of the Château, Versailles Rive Droite is 1.4km away, Versailles Rive gauche is 0.7km away.

The Olympic committee met at the end of October and confirmed that Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 are going ahead on the dates set (There is an official coundown timer running on the Olympics website) The Olympic 4 year cycle is set many years ahead, with a massive amount of planning that goes into venues and infratstructure. The dates for 2028 in Los Angeles are already set as July 21 to August 6, 2028. It would be better the have one year out of sync with Tokyo and then back to normal after that. It is also built around other major Global sporting events such as the Football World Cup.

I hope the loos are better than at the World Championship! I didn't mind the compost ones, but the football stadium ............... don't ask.

It looks fantastic!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but just be warned that getting tickets is very hard! My husband and I were meant to go to Tokyo this year, booked a hotel and flights a year in advance just to make sure. In order to get tickets you had to sign up with the official seller in the UK. For months they only sold hugely expensive packages. As an example, flights, hotel for 4 days and a few equestrian tickets (face value about £45) plus some events that few want to see, like weightlifting, were about £6K per person, from memory o_O We had flights and a hotel for 10 days for half that. Eventually they announced that they were going to sell tickets without the package. I got on the website 20 minutes before it opened, to find that I was something like 738th in the queue :( By the time I got in there, only one dressage ticket remained. There was nothing for SJ or eventing. It was like a department store after the sales - shelves completely stripped bare! I managed to get tickets for some of the events my husband wanted to see (not exactly mainstream - fencing, anybody?), but nothing that I wanted. If Covid hadn't got in the way the Tokyo website was due to start selling tickets in the Spring, so we were hoping to pick up more through that route.

We decided not to go to the postponed games in 2021 because we'd been lucky and got all our money back from the hotel and airline, and weren't sure whether travel would be possible in 2021. If it was cancelled again we weren't confident we'd be lucky a second time. We're planning on going to Paris in 2024, but expecting that accommodation and tickets will be even harder to get, as it's so close many more Brits will be going......We might have to settle for Los Angeles in 2028!

Sorry, that all sounds very defeatist, and you should definitely try. It's just that I learned a lot through the process ;)

It never even crossed my mind to try and get to the London Olympics and I was amazed when friends and family went. I went with a package holiday to the World Championships in Normandy which was very well organised, for the eventing and they telephoned to say that there were some Dressage tickets available and would I like them, of course I said yes and in the end that was the highlight of the trip.

On speaking to other travel firms, I was told that one firm that had organised trips to Hong Kong had gone bust as they had to buy the tickets up front and no enough people from the UK wanted to travel there.

Amazing venue for Paris though, and the French have learned their lesson about keeping everything together.
