Parkers Advert...Which photos etc?

His advert (Does this sound alright?)

Registered Irish Sports Horse by 'Euro Lover' out of 'Dilys'. 'LORD AVALON' is a stunning 16HH, six year old (2002) chestnut gelding with four white socks. This is a smart and capable horse who I have spent time producing and is now fit and ready to compete. Currently being schooled on the flat, over show jumps and cross country schooling too. I brought him for BSJA but I have decided to take a break from horses to do A-Levels. Hacks alone and im company; load, travel, catch, clip, shoe, traffic etc and not strong or silly. Competant home only - I will not sell to novices.

Which photos (Max Three) I know I should take some more but I would like to start advertising him and the weather for next few days isn't photo weather - could alway upload/change them I think anyway.

Re: photos, sorry but none of them would attract me to him at all, and definately don't use the poor quality or dark ones. I'm sure you have some better ones of him stood up?
I'm no good at wording but I'm sure someone will be able to give you an idea of where to go with that.
Other than that, I don't want to read any more because I have really liked him since you got him but I can't afford a horse until the summer!

The only one I like is No 5. I think you need one of him side on stood square- this can be done even if weather isnt excellent as long as you do it during a brightish part of the day... the others dont sell him well- in fact poor fotos make me think seller either doesnt really care or is desperate for a quick sale. And I know your neither of these things, and hes such a nice horse- people should see that.

He's got a lovely head and 3 and 4 are not bad but I'm sure you could get better shots to show his comformation better

Just out of interest why don't you want any novices if he's really good?
 
Not that easy. It's quite hard to take photos by your self to start with! And my sister has taken the camara which is better for this sort of job to uni. Our camara is a decent one, does lovely photos, but only in good conditions, and not moving (O.K it's abit high-tech for us and I dont understand how to use it correctly so more the photograpgher then camara...)

Reason I wouldn't sell him to a novice - He's a six year old competition horse in short! Parker really is a sweetie, and I have put people who have only ridden a handful of times before on him and he's been a saint. Although parkers far from the hardest horses I've ridden he's not the easiest sometimes but then saying that I've had some the best rides of my little life on him, infact he has given me a great deal of confidence. I want him to go to a competant, competitive home which understands 'talant isn't docile' as my trainer says and at the end of the day a horse is marely a horse.
 
If you have these photos and videos with your description it makes you look like a con merchant. Basically your photos do not back up anything you say other than he is not strong. I would advertise him as a PC or RC horse/allrounder. If i was buying a competition horse then I would want to see it jumping more than a 1 Ft log at his age. I think you need to rethink your description and tone it down to be more realistic.
 
Dozziesmummy - The advert was put together with a friend who knows a thing or two about horses; including the Parker. Like I have said - I have very limited photos and video fotage because I don't have a personal photographer!! I guess I'll try to talk some one into becoming one and get complimenting photos to show him off alot better, I was waiting till dressage on Monday and other competitions we had planned hoping there'd be a professional, however because strangles in a number of yards in West Sussex it's all cancelled.

Exactly. You need better photos.If you say he was bought to BSJA and you want to sell him as such then you need someone to take a photo of him jumping 3'6. If you want to sell him as an eventer then show him jumping something decent. I am not knocking your horse at all. But if i was looking at what you are showing with a view to buy I would think...yeah...nice enough but I would go no further.

ETA I would not be the least bit interested in the ones of him with a rug or a pretty face! I want to see him moving and jumping!

Is there an option of just putting the wording up and adding photos later?

It's meant to be better weather on monday so maybe you could get some piccies then. I know it's hard when you're on your own, is it even possible for you to get some of him loose jumping maybe?

If it wasn't for uni/work/general madness at the mo I would happily volunteer to pop over your way and take some photos for you
 
Sorry - but agree with Dozziesmummy. While he looks handsome in some of the stable shots, if you are saying absolutely no novices and yet do not have any decent shots of him jumping or doing flatwork then you are not going to attract people.

Have to say that the tone of your ad could put people off, as your statement about the No Novices just seems to suddenly hit you as you read it and certainly comes across as being almost rude, whether you want them or not, there is I think a more polite way of saying it. Sorry but that's just what I thought. Need to check for typo's as there are a few that have snook in.

I am certain I have seen you post some better pictures of him, as it is the easter hols soon surley someone will be on the yard willing to help you with the pictures?
 
Ditto this. None of the pictures or videos back up what you're saying about him being a talented competition horse. Even in the xc video it looks like you're having to work fairly hard to get him to pop tiny jumps - people looking for a SJer or an eventer just won't be interested - he looks kind and friendly but nothing special.

If you want to sell him as a talented competition horse you need a good confo shot in daylight, a good pic of him schooling and a picture of him jumping a decent sized fence.

Surely you can persuade a friend to come to the yard with a digital cam and take some nice pictures and video footage of him doing some impressive work?
