As some may or may not know I buy a foal each year. Tis my wee hobby!

This year I would like a part bred Arab to make around 15hh. Ideal would be Anglo-Arab x WB, Arab x pony…..not too fussy but I don’t want more than 50% Arab, absolutely no greys at all ever, and must have parents with good movement. This pony will ideally one day be competing in absolutely everything with myself and/or one or all of the growing children.

Has anyone got any recommendations of breeders/studs who I might be able to keep an eye on once the foals start dropping?

I bought last years foal from a breeder recommendation here, and very smart he is too! So fingers crossed ??

Thanks :)

Gosh really? Why’s that? No personal experience of the stud/their youngstock, by the way. Just know she breeds PBAs so thought I was being helpful!

(ETA I had my horse on livery there briefly, which is how I know of them. Paid very little attention to the stud side of things though - Arabs not really my thing)

There was a nice part bred filly on Arabian lines last week.

Vlaqc horses are lovely they use old fashioned Arab lines which are proper riding Arab's.

Silverbak horses are very beautiful but they are normally very high percentage Arab.

There are not many part bred breeders around now some of the show hacks and show ponies normally have Arab breeding, might be worth looking on some show breeders websites for what you want.

Thank you very much for the recommendations so far. The Vlacq horses are a higher percentage than I was looking for, but oh how stunning they are!! Proper old fashioned performance Arabs. Might well have to bend my percentage wishlist!
They have a lovely lovely yearling too, but I do have a policy of only having one of each age to make the breaking stage fun instead of a chore.
Hmmmmmm. Think a visit might be in order ??

at one time when i was in cheshire a lot i met the vlacq arab lady on several occasions, alway seemed a nice person.

now i`m talking 35 years ago, so she also goes back a long way in the experience department.

I had planned to put my mare to one of the Tannasg Arabians as their temperament is fantastic (I know of 3 offspring personally and have ridden two of them) however my mare took ill before going so I'm potentially looking at buying one of their foals although intrigued by a few others that have popped up on this thread.

I've started and backed a few pure bred Arab's and I can honestly say they were easy, I bought Arabi as a 2 year old colt and it was like he had been ridden before, I think getting good ground work in place really helps and getting there trust they can be quite wary and timid when they are young he was, he has always been a one person horse and alot of them are like that.

I would say if you get on with part breds you would be fine with higher percentage or pure breds, I personally think some of the part breds can be sharper and not as straight forward.

Ooh I'm excited now for you ?

I had completely forgotten but I’ve actually ridden there ? and remember now thinking “I can see why people like Arabs” afterwards! Lovely horses there.

It is a lovely place they get a very natural start in life and he often keeps some and backs them, they always look very level headed calm horses.

Silvabak stud? No personal experience just follow on insta ? I think someone on here has one of theirs

I have one, and one of their mares with me on loan too.

Personal experience NOT required, beautiful horses seen on insta/Facebook are most welcome ??

Already watching Silvabak but they are quite pricey!

Definitely email and have a chat with Robyn. She is so nice and she cares enormously about the homes her babies go to.

Mim 80% Arab.
