Good evening everyone!

I've bought myself a Welsh x ISH/CB and im wondering what sort of showing I would do with her at the local RC grounds? I've only ever shown my Arab foreign breeds so this is all new to me.

She's very very Welsh looking with a fair bit of bone, huge Welsh mane and tail. She's on the large side at 14hh currently at 18 months and previous owner has said she'll make 15'2hh at least, if not nearer 16hh.

Because she'll have a bit of bone, will she go as a hunter? Or will she possibly not be the right type/height for it? I'm assuming she wouldn't go as a riding horse but I actually don't have a clue!

Any advice?

Is she ridden or do you want to do in hand (I have no clue about in hand stuff).

She's rising 2, so planning to youngstock show for the next 2 years and back her at 4/5. I'll plan to do a bit of both eventually, but obviously for the next few years will strictly be in hand.

It depends what level you want to show at. Local level will just be generic youngstock classes and if she has bone and substance then strip her, plait her and show her as a hunter.

Up a gear she may struggle in hunter classes because of her height but in theory a good example is not a bad height. Same for sports horse classes.

Welsh Part Bred classes are your best bet if the shows offer them. And unless she is quite refined I would continue to show as a Hunter and not put a coloured browband on. Judges will always offer you advice if you ask politely so don't be affraid to ask of they think she is more of one type than the other.
