I have had a serious chat with other half about me hanging on for a bit for a new horse, but I broke down again today as I am missing my lad (probably also down to the songs that were on at the time and the weather) but I am on the hunt yet again for the right horse to come and live and be loved with me.

Since doing my next door neighbour's horse this week I have come to decision that I would want to put my next horse on part livery, I have never done this before so will be ailen to me.

I have no idea really what to expect from part livery, especially in my area of Essex as not had a horse here so clueless as to what yards to stay well clear of etc.

So if anyone could please give me heads up on the lovely yards and prices that would also be great and what it involves on part livery as I've only ever been DIY, although previously worked on several different yards everyone offer's different things in their livery package's.

Thanks guys :D

(Oh and still looking for a new neddy on loan/with view to buy)......:P

There is The Garrison Saddle club at Fordham, Park Farm West Bergholt, Crockleford Stud Longridge. I can get more names as hubby is a farrier and we live in Colchester.

Not sure why you are asking what part livery involves compared to DIY if you have already made up your mind to go for part livery, but here is a rough guide.

At all the big yards I've been at (just outside Colchester) part livery involves all the care such as turning out/bringing in, mucking out, and feeding. It doesn't usually involved riding or grooming, which would usually be under full livery.

But all YOs seem to offer slightly different packages, so it is worth giving them a ring for a chat first, then going and having a look.

I've always kept my horses on DIY livery as I prefer to look after them myself. And it's a lot cheaper!

I don't want to recommend yards on here but PM me if you want details of good ones and ones to steer clear of.

Garrison have no spaces and a long waiting list so I am told
I've looked at Crockleford's site and it appears to be nice and not bad money for what you get.
Park farm I don't know about.

If there are any in the area that I should steer clear of, if you want to advise me over PM.

I am going to go Part, but have only ever been DIY before and don't know this area all too well yet (not been here that long).

I've always done this too, but want to try Part livery this time.

Please could you PM me of the one's not to go near (like I say I have no idea on any of the yards around me).
Thanks :)

Hiya

Not too sure if you were looking for a big DIY yard or small DIY. I have just put an ad up for Assisted DIY (which includes feeding in morning (your hay and feed), rug changing, turning out and bringing in). It's a private yard, with post and rail fencing, manage with lights. Based Lawford, Nr Manningtree. I'll leave my email karen25122@hotmail.com
