Part loaning/finding a rider for my 4yo... =/

Please for gods sake convince me it'll be ok!!!

I've damaged my back due to a bad fall off my horse 3 weeks ago and cannot ride for 6 months. I dont want to put my 4yo's career on hold as he was started late as it was due to him being immature. I just cant justify leaving him to rot for 6 months as he thrives on work and is a nightmare in the stable if he doesn't get enough done with him. OH is fab for yard jobs, he mucks out for me but he doesn't ride.

Therefore ive decided im going to attempt to find him a part loaner, or even just someone to ride him. Im just worried that i'll get heaps and heaps of inexperienced people wanting him and the last thing i want is for an accident to happen with someone who isnt used to riding a very green youngster.

Ive never advertised a horse for loan before so are there any tips from those who have? I just want to be sure the person is capable of bringing him on so that there isn't an accident and that he doesn't get ruined by someone who isn't..

Im so gutted i cant ride for so long. Ive had him from being 5 months old and waited so long to back and bring him on. And now im a cripple :(

Only tips I can offer is to get recommendations for the rider.

Are their any universities offering equine quals near you (including vetinary) as often people have had to give up horses to go to Uni?

Go with your gut! If you don't like someone don't have them!
 
I'm afraid I wouldn't do it. You're basically asking someone to bring on a young horse for you and then you'll get back on in 6 months time. I would expect to pay someone to do that rather than have them do it for free. I think you'll be extremely lucky to find someone who will do it for free because if they are skilled enough to do it then they could be being paid to do it.

Have you got any insurance that will give you anything for your accident? I'm not a fan of the ambulance chasers usually, but this would be a good use of personal accident insurance compensation money in my mind - taking up the slack where you can't becasue of the injury?
 
Pity I'm not in your area, this is about the kind of situation I'll be looking for once I get settled.
Hopefully you'll be able to find a solution to your situation!
 
You might do but as already said, most people good enough would want paying, if its only 6 months. But you may find someone who's been forced to sell, at uni etc.
 
I would rather rest the horse for 6 months personally. My four year old is way behind yours in her training and it's done her no harm, so don't worry about that.
 
Before i bought my boy, rising 4, I'd have jumped at the chance to ride and bring on a horse for 6 months as it would have meant me keeping on riding regulary and still being able to save for my own horse. I think there will be people out there who will jump at the chance.
 
Just been round facebook and deleted all my adverts.. though having read more replies i might get in touch with some students. I live about ten minutes from myerscough college and i know plenty of students who would jump at the chance to have something to mess with while at college.
At the end of the day, professionals didnt become professionals without gaining experience. Most of the time in this industry its unpaid. I guess i'll give it a shot and if nobody wants to take me up on my offer i'll have to either see about leaving him til i can ride or robbing a bank to send him away =/
 
Where abouts in Lancashire are you? I'm on a yard near Knutsford and Warrington in Cheshire and we take horses on to bring on/reschool/sell if it's any use? Although it wouldn't be free I'm afraid as I don't have the time to be riding all sorts of horses for people for free alongside my own four!
