Partial rubber matting?

Ive picked up a stables worth of interlocking rubber mats

I could do with using half for my pony who stands by his door a lot and who has a nice deep bed that he keeps clean and doesnt need rubber underneath

And the other half for under the bed of my mucky pony as he could do with a bit less bed of a more absorbant kind

Does having them over only half a stable defeat the object?
 
I would say so.IME people who just have half, have trouble with it lifting and shifting. It generally stinks underneath too. I think it would be a pain to muck out.
I have full rubber matting (husband has proved to be an expert fitter!) and couldn't reccomend highly enough. Took it with me when I moved form yard to home and it was relaid without a problem. Initially cost is steep but so worth it. I hadn't moved my mats for five years as they sealed so well and there was hardly anything underneath when I moved them. I used to disenfect the tops but never lift up. People with partial seem to have to lift and clean a lot and they are very heavy, so not something I'd be wanting to do.
I wouldn't keep a horse without mats now, love them :)
 
No matter what you do it will shift and move if you only do partial matting I'm afraid and it will drive you mad and be a potential trip hazard as well. x
 
Two of the boxes I sometimes muck out have half matting, with the matting at the front and big beds behind. I have never known them to shift, they don't stink underneath, and it's nice for the horses not to have to stand on concrete.

No problems for partial matting here.
 
Nope, I prefer it, The back of my stable is matted for the bed, the front unmatted, the back is where the bed is and the front is where my horse likes to stand (when he isnt deficating in his stable) concrete is better for their hooves (especially when they are barefoot as ben is)

No problems with smell,
No problems with mucking out,
No problems with movement (mine arent even interlocking)
