I have had just the weirdest experience and am actually slightly freaked out!
We have a lady at our yard who regularly has an animal communicator come and visit her horse along with a colour and crystal therapist, completely her choice who am I to judge. I go as far as a Holistic Vet and my one experience with an animal communicator (15 quid through a photo!) was a load of old bull hooks.
Last week the communicator was down at the yard having just seen Xs horse.
I was sitting in the paddock with Vardi having a bit of a pull yourself together mate conversation as my trainer and I had just had a conversation in which he told me that Vardi had panicked and ran off with him again there was nothing to spook him as the worlds spookiest mare was also working in the school and she would have been the first to go. Trainer had given serious thought to did he do anything different and realised nope 30 mins into the training session they were just doing a relaxed lope and bam panic ran off set his jaw and trainer had no brakes and had to get his attention back first before doing one rein stop to get control back ..Vardi was then upset and silly for the rest of the session. Anyhow all plans for the intended taking him to the forest and getting him hacking outside on his own are now put back for a while and Vardi is now being taken back a lot of steps.
So the communicator is putting Xs horse back in the paddock and Vardi walked away from me and stood staring at her really locking eyes. She asked me if I was happy for her to communicate with him and I said If you like we are having problems in that for no reason he will run into his bit then have a panic attack, maybe he can tell you what on earth is going on we suspect he was rushed when he was broken in and punished for not using his hind end, ran into his bit and was then socked in the teeth as a punishment
As you can imagine I was fully expecting that to be told to me that that is what he confirmed happened.
Conversation went like this;
Gosh I feel nauseous its the bit he hates the taste and it makes his stomach contract like he wants to be sick but horses obviously cant be sick oh how funny I have just asked him if he wants some honey on it and he has told me that you will say he is sweet enough
its the feeling of nausea that makes him panic and his teeth hurt him he is telling me it is memory pain, when he was a baby still inside his mother at the time the cells were forming to make his teeth his mother was kicked in the stomach really badly and he got lots of bad chemicals from her (adrenaline I am assuming) he really loved his mother and his weaning was very traumatic, he is saying his mother had a very hard life (she was a broodie churning out a foal a year) he is saying that you are his other mummy and look after him (got a bit tearful at this point).
This is way I chew at everything to numb the pain in my teeth but I know it is not real pain but memory pain its like they itch he can ignore it most of the time and work through it but sometimes he just cant and this makes his stomach contract and then he panics
he says he knows there is a bridle for him out there and you will know when it is right for him and then please never change it he is showing me a very tattered blue fleece top and a very dirty sheep stuffed toy (these are my fleece I have had for years and my dogs stuffed toy our respective comfort blankets) he looks on the right bridle and bit as his comfort blanket and when you find the right one please buy two so you never have to change it.
He then went to chew on the fence and she said shush you dont need to do that anymore let it go
he says he hates being like this that he wants to be perfect and do everything well he hates having this hang up
She suggested that I got a medium soft tooth brush and just brushed his gums every day to de-sensitise his teeth. Mad as it sounds I have been doing this and he loves it.
After this she left would not accept any payment but a cup of coffee in the bunkhouse.
I talked to my trainer about this and although a bit shocked she did not come up with the oh yes the person that broke me in hurt me and what she had come up with seemed a bit far fetched to say the least.
Anyhow I have the details of Vardis breeder and sent an e-mail last week just saying I know this sounds crazy but did anything happen whilst your mare was pregnant with him
Yesterday I got a return e-mail telling me that yes she was kicked in the belly by another brood mare when she was 5 months pregnant with him and it was touch and go that she kept the foal.
So yes I am a little freaked out and if someone will please pass the salt & pepper will commence eating my hat.
