Hi.

I was wondering if anyone had come across a horse with a passport with no name?

The horses full parentage is in there but the name bit is empty???

Has anyone had this before?? Is it a problem??

Many thanks

Vicki :)

Only the brood mares and the retirees here have names on their passports, none of the youngstock have. As long as the horse's details are on it thats the important thing. We sell our youngstock and the buyer gets to name them.

Hi,

Thanks. His details are correct in it and he is who it says he is so thats good. I just had a mild panic as he had no name and Ive never seen that before and was a little :confused::confused: I should confess that happens easily :p

So I dont need to worry :)

It's very common in TB's as most people like to name their racehorses themselves. So long as the foal was microchipped and had his identification form filled in they needed no "name" as such.

As said, it gives you the opertunity to give your horse a name you want to and your not stuck with something you don't really like so get your thinking cap on :D It's harder than it seems sometimes!

I dont want to name him!!!!! It took me at least 4 months to name my first homebred (the spottie one) and in the end I called her Dottie....original hey! My second homebred I decided I should be much more decisive, couldnt be so googled "what should I call my foal" and called her the first name from the first page!!!!!!

Maybe he will stay nameless lol

When I got Alfie he had no name just microchip number and discription, had to pay £25 to Irish horse board to name him so he could event!!! wasnt big problem but did ponder for a name,... he was known as "chestnut gelding" for 2 weeks!!!

You could make it a mash up of his parents names? Or you could just call him "Nameless" :D

We had an ISH with no name, just returned passport to the Irish Horse Register with a few choices and they chose one name and returned it.
