Hello, i'm new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone could help me?
I have recently bought a horse from a reputable dealer. I have the passport and breed papers, however now I have come to change the details on the passport, I need the previous registered OWNERS signature. The dealer obviously didn't change the passport into her name as she wasn't going to be keeping him. I have tried to phone the previous owner but the number I have doesn't work, I just get a "dead-line".
What do I do?
Would be VERY pleased with any advice.
Thanx

Could you not go through the breed society,I would have thought the dealer would have had some form of contact.....sorry that is all I can offer.....Oh and welcome to the forum!

dont panic - if you send a copy of the reciept of the horse you bought along with the passport and write a letter explaining the situation - they will change it - I had the same problem but mine was three owners out of date - with a receipt of purchase they will change it - xx

I suggest you telephone the passport issuer and explain the problem, they might change it anyway. the only alarm bell with an unsigned passport is that the horse might be stolen, so be sure to check any freezemark get the horse scanned for a microchip as wel as checking on the stolen horse register

Thanks everyone! That's great! Where do you find information out about freezemarks and the stolen horse register? Although I am fairly sure he isn't stolen, it's better just to check.
Thanks again
xx
