My horse had an accident last year and fractured his hip bone. He now has about 12 inch scar on his hind quarters. I was looking at his passport last night which got me thinking. That in his passport, it does not show this scar on his markings. He is microchipped. Could anybody offer any advice? Should I get the vet to amend it when he is next at the yard?

The passport drawing should have been redraw by your vet and the new drawing, showing the scar, should have been forwarded to you passport issuer for the drawing to be updated.

Hmm, I would if the vet doesn't charge you! My new lad is dapple grey but his passport (stud book registration) says he is 'brown' as he obviously was when he was born!! I think I may have to amend it too.

Unfortunately, most PIO's charge for amending them with such things, yet more expense. It is however another identification mark, and you may want to ask your vet to amend and sign your silhoutte and you send to the PIO for the records, whenever vet next comes out.
There is no need to do it if you prefer not to though.
