I have just looked at my horses passport and noticed that it still says he is a colt. He is actually a gelding now and he was when I bought him. Do I need to get it changed? And how should I go about this? Do I need to get the vet to change it? Or send the passport away to get it changed?
I am planning to event him this year? Do they check the pasports at the event? I know they check for Flu vaccs, but dont want to get there for them to say I cant compete becacuse he is theoretically (sp) a stallion?!?
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Ring your passport issuer and clarify. As he's been a gelding for as long as you've had him I think it's unreasonable for them to expect you to go to the expense of having a vet out to say he's a gelding and sign a letter to that effect; the previous owners should have had it signed when he was castrated. They should, to be fair say send it in, we'll change it, especially if you had him vetted, it should be on that certificate and on your insurance one anyway.

SHB said they change my colts passport to a gelding free of charge. Just have to send it back in again to them with a vet signature saying he has been castrated.
