Hi All
I am wondering about registered names on passports -
My mare was put in training for racing but she was never raced and they never bothered to register her with a name. the name slot in her passport is just empty. This was never an issue with me but I am thinking ahead if we ever affiliate (BE?) she will need to have a registered name.. I’ve heard this is very expensive with Weatherbys and I’ve heard some people just register their names with the affiliating body instead? Can someone shed some light on what is the easiest solution that won’t cost me hundreds
TIA !

Just register with the body you are competing under and write the name in the passport yourself. It would cost £250-ish to register the name with Wetherby's before any other body on top.

It's cheaper to add a name to a non-racing horse, around £50 as noted above. You have to register BE as the passport name, I would not just write it on on the passport personally.

I've had to do this to.
Registered as non racing with weatherbys for about £50, the send the passport back with the name inserted.
Then you can register with whichever society you wish.
Weatherbys were very helpful and easy to deal with, and you can check the name you wish to use is available, and even reserve it (if I remembered that right)
