Hi, this is my first post (longtime lurker

)

So I was wondering if anyone could offer any help. I moving yards in about a weeks time and have just got my passport back from the yard owner. She had it because she was meant to be organising vaccinations for my horse as she said it was easier for her to have them done all at the one time. Having looked at her passport though ive seen that my horse has missed its last flu jab so now has to start over.

My questions are

1) will the fact that ned has to start course over affect/postpone the move to new yard?

2) is tetanus jab meant to be recorded on the passport?

Phew!!!

Thanks for reading and sorry if its a really stupid question

The tetanus jab should be recorded on the passport. Whether it delays your move or not will depend on how strict the new YO is.

hello

erm 1, possibly, best to ask the new yard

and 2 , it can either be on the passport or on those old cards, i think they should be recorded in the passports though.

Welcome Lurker!!!

Tetanus should be recorded, but may be coded with the flu jab....... ie PREVAC T, EQUIP FT, DUVAXYN IE-T PLUS... I suppose the T is the tetanus...

Move to new yard will depend on the YO..... but doubt will affect it.

You should get the old YO to pay for the extra incurred now that you have to start over

three visits instead of one is no joke!!!

An un-vacinated horse is not a threat to other horses who are coverd. Some horses have dreadful reactions to the vac and can not be given them. It does not put other horses at risk.... so there should be no problem with the new yard.

Sometimes the Vets do not record the vacs at the time of administering them, so it might be worth checking with the Vet to see if they have a record of it.

The vacs should be recorded on the passport, but this is only important if it is a requirement of your insurance, or if you are competing under rules which demand proof of vacination, or if the horse is intended for human consumption.

All horses should be vaccinated for Tetanus (terrible disease) but normally unless you are competing many don't bother with the Flu jab. It appears that the YO has done the tetanus jab, & that is the most impotant one.
