Passports- new ownership

I've only just sent mine off... had him 3-4 months *although he didnt have one so was sending off for pasport* and liberty... God took me months... I'm really bad at those type things... But was a reg New forest passport. Could you not send it off with the pass dates and then maybe go for 'Oh must got deylayed in post...'
 
I'm being thick here - what 30 days?!

Just get it off straight away, reason for the passport is that if you are caught travelling the horse without the horses passport you could be prosecuted (always ensure you have it on you when travelling the horse). Change of Name is just to keep the organisations records up-to-date .. dont worry you are not going to be put to jail for not sending it in, you just need to be the 'name' on the passport incase the Authorities (Traffic Police/Ministry of Transport) stop you!

Please remember a passport is not a proof of ownership! Make sure you always keep your receipts of sale..
 
Yep its that easy. If you are changing the ownership details they will probably want a photocopy of your Bill of Sale just for confirmation.

Check their website if you are unsure.
 
I have a French Ministry of Agriculture passport for my Selle Francais. It is very detailed, has all his breeding vaccs since a baby etc.
It does not contain the page about drugs for human consumption or any where to record owners. My vet advised me NOT to send it off to France as I would be unlikely to get it all back in on piece (funnily enough the vet is belgian and speaks fluent french). he read the whole passport (it's in french) and said that no where in it does it say where to send it if horse is sold.
So I'm committing an offence if horse does not have a passport showing those clauses, but if I get another passport for ID purposes then I am committing an offence for having 2 passports for the same horse. Confused - I am.
BTW he also has an expired full FEI travel passport as well!!

If the passport is issued by the Irish Horse Board then all you have to do is sent back with covering letter giving your details. No charge and no other proof required. They were very quick to turn mine around.
 
Just a general point. If you are sending ANYTHING off to ANYONE.....make a photocopy of the whole thing first....just in case!
