While out with a team of all black shetland show ponies at Bucks County show yesterday we were asked to produce (By trading standards )Our passports,The ponies were owned by myself and a friend,We produced 4 passports ,The wrong one was passed over for my mare which was for a black shetland gelding,After looking at the passport for a good few minutes,The gentleman said 'Yep thats fine ' I said are you going to check the Microchips ? Oh no madam we dont have the equipment to do that ! I then pointed out that we had given the wrong passport with every pony ( To prove a point !)And that my pony was infact a Mare ! He then had to agree the system was a sham and the passport system didnt work ! I suppose if you have a pony with markings its different But one pony had a rug on and he didnt ask as to take it off !
