Hi, Like many people I bought a horse from a lady that had not had the passport transfered into her name when she originally bought the horse. I contacted the passport people whom said that the original owner that was last entered into the book would have to be contacted before I could transfer him into my name. Unfortunately the original owner had emigrated to Australia, hence the lady I bought him from had omitted to do anything about it.
2 yrs down the line I had done the same thing, stuck his passport in a drawer and forgot about it as I have spent 2 years training him into a dressage horse rather than competiting. I now have a medical problem with the horse and my insurance co has insisted they have a copy of his up to date passport as proof of ownership, this has left me in a panic and wondered if anyone else had got themselves into a similar mess? and if so, how the hell they got out of it?
I would appreciate some info on what I can do (in a hurry) as I can imagine the insurance co will look for any loop hole to stop a claim, especially as I have loss of use policy!
Many thanks.
