Hi
Went to Patchetts yesterday, never been there before. A bit shocked as had to pay extra £7 day membership ontop of entry (£20 for one class we jumped).
Anyway getting back to point, the 70cm was fairly meaty but the 80cm was huge (or was it me?) or was it cause Horse and Country TV were filming the class !
just wanted anybody eles thoughts that were there.

Wasn't there for the 80 but was there for the British Novice and 1m amateur. Didn't think the courses were too bad, sometimes they build really big there and other times they build really small. When I brought my mare back into work at the beginning of the year I took her to do the 70 and 80 at their intro shows and have to admit they used to build the 70cm really small and then whack the fences are in the 80cm! How did you get on?

I didn't do the 80 but I did see it, to be honest it just looked up to height to me. IME they tend to build to height at Patchetts. Don't forget the jump-off will usually be 10cm higher so that might have been what looked big to you?

I did the next class which was normal for a 90 but what WAS massive was the number of entries they took. There were well over 80 people in the class! I think they said there were 82 but I don't know if that included those on a ticket or H/C rounds etc. I thought it was way more than that, it went on forever! It's put me right off going back there - we were doing the BN too so we had to hang around for aaaages.

Patchetts is always majorly busy on an intro day! I was ok cos I was just doing the BN and 1m so kept ringing them to find out what class they were on, got there with about 20 to go in the 90cm amateur class so didn't have to hang around for too long

patchetts is notoriously ridiculous on intro days! and i really think that they build up to height ... i wouldnt say ive ever seen an over height course there especially when you look at comparatives! especially local to me.

sounds like you did a nice round.

I must say I did enjoy jumping the courses - the 90cm amateur had a couple of tricky turns, and 2 related distances in a row - planks, 4 strides to spread, 4 strides to upright and it was fun! But not enough fun to counter the hours of hanging around while they added more and more and more entries

We had one down in the jump-off in the 90 (the blue wavy one which I got a rubbish approach to) and one down in the first round in BN, tired pone I think. Shame about the 90 as we did get a good time, would have been in the placings.
