patent bridles

people's views?
i was always against the idea, as i always thought they looked a bit flashy. however i've just seen a really nice amerigo bridle with patent noseband which i love. i think i've been converted.
i also saw patent topped and ostrich leather topped long riding boots at olympia which i wanted to take home, and would have had they not had a £300 price tag!

what does everyone think about all this flashy riding gear/tack?

A livery at my yard who has about 5 saddles and 7 bridles for one of her horses has a patent leather bridle which I think looks very tacky. I saw those boots at olympia and someone was trying them on and they did look very smart (If I had the money I would have taken them home!) And a couple of weeks ago at towerlands I did see someone wearing simalar boots.

However, I did see some 'gorgeous' silver riding boots on the Brogini stand

(think it was Brogini anyway)

i have the elevator patent noseband, to match my patent konig boots.
both are only for shows to avoid any scratches.
i think they look lovely on bay/black/grey/dark brown horses, im not totally convinced by them on very orange chesnuts.

the de niro patent and crystal jumping boots are on my wish list now!!!

I love them personally and really want one for Bodey, however they aren’t really a cob thing are they? Maybe if I had a posh WB?

I have a black patent one for my boy, only because it is the only one I had in my vast collection that fitted him! I am off bridle shopping next week (bring on the sales!). I think the patent one looks ok, but it is not as nice for everyday use because it is so stiff.

When the De Niro jumping boots came out I got them at Olympia about 2 or 3 years ago, and I love them and they are my best purchase in the world =]
