Today out hacking we went past a motorbike...without getting off!!

Motorbikes are one of the things I hate meeting and but come along the stretch of road I go along by the yard quite often...
Because my mare spooked at them a few times when we first moved there, I got into the habit of getting off when I heard one coming, and she would stand fine while it went past.
Today as we headed back to the yard, one came up behind and as madam was behaving quite well, I just stayed on and tried to be as relaxed as I could :)
She tensed up alot but no shooting forwards (or backwards) like she normally does :)
Yipee, so sad but I was so excited I could of cried!!!

This isnt pathetic at all its a step in the right direction for you both and to me any improvement should never been seen as pathetic no matter how much or little you do with your horse everyone has to start somewhere... keep up the confidence and motorbikes will become like the wind there one min gone the next :)

Thanks guys, probably sounds like nothing to some people, but its a big deal for me, Im not the most confident person and I pass it onto her sometimes.
Thats why I started getting off when they came past because I was worrying and then she would spin or spook at it :(
Doesnt help that sometimes they race past :(
But this one today was very nice and slowed down and even put his hand up and thanked me!!

Well done!! I know how huge these "pathetic" things can be. I was over the moon when Neddy first went in a stable without breaking the door off and when he went in the school without trying to jump the fence ^^

Again, well done you :D

yippee...not pathetic at all. Everyone has a fear to face and what is normal for one person is a big deal to others and nobody should be ashamed of having a fear.

Well done you.

Really well done, not pathetic at all but I know how you feel. Really really important to remember the little achievements that make up the bigger picture. :D

Not pathetic - my horse hates motorbikes to and would get upset even if one went past the yard and she was in the field. Taken a good 18 months but now if I'm riding and one comes along she pulls up her brave pants and marches on. The problem was me thinking s&"t motorbike ! Your one flippin big step forward :D:D

Bah...I think you're being very contained actually... I'd be swinging from the lampshades with excitement and then using a megaphone to announce it to the whole neighbourhood...

Well done...:)
