Pathological Liars :-p!!!

Sorry Kerilli I meant nothing by it, humour, and sometimes I forget this when I am bashing away at the keyboard, does not come out too well on a forum post, I meant I know what you mean, we had many a giggle on one yard where one girl did this that and god knows what else, and another mum, who's son rode for Nick Gauntlett, every other sentence started, " well Nick said/thinks blah blah," turns out son was working pupil, and was gone after about 5 months, usual placement time = 12 months :D

Love this thread! My previous yard was full of these 'characters'.

There was the one who used to sit on anything dodgy to get it going (she claims), but is scared to sit on her own horse (when he side stepped she jabbed it & being a youngster he said bog off). Currently someone else does all the riding. She is only happy when she has a horse she doesn't ride & can spend all her money on supplements/feed/rugs for it to show what a loving owner she is.

Then there was the posh 'I do classical' dressage girl. Got a supposed Connemara who grew to about 15.2hh, nicknamed by everyone else 'cut'n'shunt' as his front end didn't match his back end. Never seen such bad conformation. Permanently lame (4 when she bought it), has given up with vets (had everything done to find cause including surgical cutting of foot nerves in hind leg so has limited sensation where his back feet are). Now being ridden in a school (too scared to hack it), being ridden 'through' the lameness. Then her other expensive mare, she was the only one who was stupid enough to buy it, has degenerating feet (again, only young). Lame even when left in field. When did ride it was too scared to go above walk, even in school. Recently thinking about breeding from it...Irony is she lecutered another lovely, commited owner about having her old mare put down even though vet saud she wasn't in pain & owner totally devoted to her care. Time comes know when she has 2 in permanent pain she can't make the decision when 2 years earlier she had a go (I witnessed the speech) at the other owner.

Another one supposedly gods gift to dressage, even though she had never done an affiliated class, but had one a pony riders class where they videotape the test & send it in to be judged. Horse used to rear to evade double bridle/spurs, then when that hurt too much started bolting (forever being told by her sister & mum how wonderful she was & how trainer thought she was going to take dressage world by storm...). Horse (sged 9 ish) developed joint problems, told not to jump it. 6 moonths later jump it in local ponyclub show (2'3" pairs class) & knackered it. Developed severe, nearly life threatening laminitis last year, took their time to bring it in. Read into that what you will.

Have also met some lovely people on livery yards, but the liars seem to be louder & more a pain in the ar*e!

Forgot the cobx youngster. Very placid & calm nature. Lady who bought it supposedly an instructor, stayed on at the yard as a livery. Tormented this young horse so much, especially when lunging (whipping him when he didn't understand) he grew to hate her. He wouldn't let her near him. Went to a local yard for schooling & to be sold as she was terrified of him (a child could have handled him, he was a sweet boy) & he loathed her with all his heart. Hope he's found a loving new home by now.
