Hi

Need a bit of advice, would you say my yearling is a good enough quality for the yearling classes with PAVO/BEF classes? Any major conformation issues? Looks a touch straight in the hock to me, having said that over the past few weeks his hind leg has developed a lot and looks much better

He's 7/8tb out of a lovely quality 2* event mare and Masterpiece

He's a bit bum high but will probably have levelled off by October, also a bit immature looking for a yearling (I know they're only babies but judges expect them to be mature looking yearlings). Again I expect at the back end of the summer he'll look alot more mature anyway.

This was the 06 yearling champ and reserve supreme, I personally don't like his back end/hind leg:

More than anything though as a yearling its good experience for him and seeing as at Pavo they give you marks for seperate things (walk/trot/conformation) its interesting to see how they score out of 10! Good luck.

crikey, he looks more like a 2/3 yr old (apart from the tail!) Mine was a May foal so wont compare, especially as prof breeders get them all on the ground early for exactly this reason! Be interested to know the breeding of last yrs winner...

I'll have to wait and see if he matures enough, but like you said its all good experience. He went out as a foal twice and learned a lot from it

Thank you for your advice

There were quite a few that were the size of your boy there aswell so don't worry.

He (above pic) was an April foal but just well grown and mature - they all mature at different rates don't they.

The supreme champ was J L-C's or Jane H-R's - I can't quite remember - 3y.o colt and I'm sure he was part warmblood.

The one above is by Maat (hann) out of a weatherbys reg mare. The judges really liked flashy movers and horses with presence.
