I really want to start riding my new boy. I know he go’s out alone, however I’ve only sat on him once, he’s only been ridden that one time since August and doesn’t know the area (I’m told new places are his most awkward!)
So I’d feel better about having company. He’s coming back from injury so only 30 minute walking to start.
I had hoped my daughter would be able to come out with me but she’s so busy with work (hence only having ridden him once!)
So I half wondered about paying a freelance rider to ride my other horse with me (pay a friend, a bit sad really ☹️!!)
What would this cost me? Seems a massive overkill to pay someone to ride an easy horse in walk but......

I’m sure if he’s an easy horse you could advertise and get someone to ride with you without paying them

A couple of years ago I paid my friend who is an instructor to ride with me a couple of times.
She charges £15 for a 30min lesson so that’s what I paid her to hack out for 30mins.
I didn’t want to advertise for someone to ride with me as it was a short term situation (I needed to keep two in work while the rider of the 2nd was out of action). Secondly the horse was not a straightforward ride, paying my friend was the best option because she’s an excellent rider and she’s insured.

He’s easy but not for the kind of rider that’s ever replied to my share type adverts I’ve tried before! He is lovely but can be pretty sprightly and I just worry a bit

Depends on the qualification of the freelance teacher

we have one here £ 15 per half hourr, bhsai and a II 25 45 mins and an I 45 per hr

A friend pays a groom we both use £10 to ride her sports Connie while she rides her youngster. Northwest.

I've paid riders lots before as they are reliable, qualified, insured and efficient, ie you hack for an hour then they tootle off and don't hang round taking selfies with your horse and generally getting under your feet like a sharer could. One of the riders I consider a friend now too but the riding arrangements were always professional.

As it's only short term I'd definitely look for a rider rather than get onto the hassle of finding a sharer :)

Eta paid between £10-£18 per hour
